Q: What does a typical day look like in your role at Beeler Construction?
A: I am our acting CFFO (Chief Fire Fighting Officer). Joking aside, a typical day in my role is a mix of supporting field teams, solving problems, and keeping safety and operations moving in the right direction. I spend time checking in with superintendents and project teams, helping remove roadblocks, reviewing field needs, and working on ways to improve how we plan labor, communicate, and execute work safely. No two days are exactly the same, which is part of what I enjoy most days.
Q: What drew you to a career in commercial construction, and how did you end up at Beeler Construction?
A: I’ve always liked building things, working with people, and seeing tangible results from hard work. I wanted to progress into more of a leadership role, and through STP courses I worked to build the qualifications on paper. 15 years ago, Beeler Construction gave me my first real opportunity to run work. I have been blessed here to be able to grow, take on new challenges, and be part of a team that cares deeply about doing quality work and supporting each other.
Q: What’s the most challenging project you’ve worked on, and what made it memorable?
A: I would say the most challenging project I have been part of has been helping build the Vivid Vision over the past few years. Being Director of Field Operations with such an amazing, knowledgeable, seasoned, and driven team is intimidating but also rewarding. I am grateful for the patience and grace shown to me by the entire team as we work to execute work safely and efficiently.
Q: What do you enjoy most about working at Beeler Construction?
A: What I enjoy most about working at Beeler is the people and the effort to be an aligned group of field & office, not field vs office. We have a team that genuinely cares about the work, about each other, and about continuing to improve. I also appreciate that there is always an opportunity to learn, grow, and make a positive impact.
Q: What’s one thing people might be surprised to learn about commercial construction or your specific role?
A: One thing people might be surprised to learn is how much of this role is about communication, planning, and supporting people – not just solving technical or field issues. At Beeler, especially the sheer amount of moving projects that are shifted around at times on an hourly basis and the amazing team we have that is able to shift with these changes on repeat while maintaining a great attitude is remarkable.
Q: If you could describe the Beeler Construction team in three words, what would they be?
A: Trustworthy, Dedicated, and Dependable.
Q: Outside of work, what are your hobbies or interests?
A: Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family. I am a proud husband with an amazing wife & 2 awesome kids who are blazing their own trails. I would say my biggest “hobby” is vacationing in the warmth. Also, I enjoy recreational scuba diving with my son in the warm, clear waters as well. Professionally, I also enjoy connecting with others in the industry and picking up ideas that can help me become a better leader.
Q: What is a fun fact about you?
A: I played trumpet throughout high school & met my wife in a traveling marching band. (Yes, band camp LOL). 27 years later, she still puts up with me.
Q: Favorite Local Restaurant or Favorite Food?
A: I am a sucker for Pizza. Anything from frozen to homemade. Tastes great; not so great for shape, although round is a shape…
Q: Favorite Vacation Destination?
A: My favorite vacation destinations are warm places where I can slow down, recharge, and spend quality time with family. Jamaica has been our most frequent destination.
